Plan Your Summer Stay

After an incredible (and long!) winter season, summer is finally starting to show face in the Snowy Mountains. There are so many awesome activities and amazing places to explore during the warmer months of the year. So, we thought we would have a look at what a trip to the Adventist Alpine Village – AAV, over the next few months, could look like.

Among the many summer attractions of Jindabyne, the lake would be one of the most popular. Lake Jindabyne is looking very full – currently sitting at just over 96%! The lake is the perfect place to launch a boat and go for a water-ski or wakeboard. Other popular lake activities include kayaking, fishing and sailing. Lake Jindabyne is only a 5-minute drive from the Adventist Alpine Village. So, if you plan to visit the AAV this summer, definitely add some water activities to your itinerary!

Thredbo is buzzing during summer as well as winter. Thredbo’s chair lifts and gondola spin for mountain bike riders and hikers. The 100% gravity mountain bike park attracts many keen riders of all abilities. There are also cross-country mountain bike trails on offer – the Thredbo Valley Track being the most popular of them all. This track follows the Thredbo River down the valley. The chairlifts are also great for hikers wanting to get direct access to the Main Range. Catch the Kosciusko Express Chair which brings you to the beginning of the Thredbo to Mount Kosciusko, 13km return walk. Thredbo village also offers many nice cafes and restaurants, a swimming pool, gym and more. Visit the Thedbo Alpine Resort Website for more information about facilities, tours and prices.

Charlotte’s Pass is also a must when you visit the Snowies. Charlotte’s Pass lookout is the start point of many of the Main Range walks. One of the most popular walks in the Kosciusko National Park is the Main Range loop. Starting out from Charlotte’s, it is a 22km, Grade 4 walk that winds past glacial lakes, historic huts and summits Australia’s highest peak – Mount Kosciusko. If all this walking is making you hungry, Stillwell Hotel at Charlotte’s Pass is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The Adventist Alpine Village is a lovely 40-minute drive from Charlotte’s Pass, that climbs up the mountains and passes through Perisher Valley.

There are also plenty of activities to do here at the Adventist Alpine Village. Go for an enjoyable walk or try the challenge of riding your mountain bike to the top of Round Hill. The track begins at the back of the lodge and works it way up for almost 2kms. From the top of Round Hill, you can ride all the way down to the campground on an awesome flow track for intermediate to advanced mountain bike riders. The grass oval at the AAV offers plenty of space for a sports game, or try a game of disc golf on the course. The AAV also has a tennis and basketball court for use. These activities right here will ensure you definitely won’t get bored!
